For Families

When Caring at Home Becomes More Than Your Family Can Safely Manage

Most families reach out after months of worry — a fall, a missed prescription, too many sleepless nights, or the sense that home is no longer a safe place to be alone. Casita offers a steadier alternative in a warm house where help is always close by.

Safety Concerns

Falls, wandering, or a phone that goes unanswered can turn an ordinary evening into an emergency.

Our Approach: Someone is awake and nearby at all hours, the home is secure, and every routine is built around what keeps your loved one steady.

Medication Concerns

Doses get missed, prescriptions change, and the schedule becomes hard for anyone to track from a distance.

Our Approach: We assist with medications on a schedule utilizing Quickmar, an eMAR, under RN oversight, and we stay in touch with prescribers and the pharmacy so nothing slips.

Caregiver Exhaustion

Family members often run on little sleep while juggling work, their own health, and everyone else's needs.

Our Approach: Our team takes the daily load so you can go back to being a spouse, son, or daughter instead of a night-shift helper.

Assistance With Daily Living

Bathing, dressing, grooming, and getting around the house can quietly become unsafe.

Our Approach: We help with the hard parts and step back from the rest, so privacy and independence stay intact.

Isolation and Loneliness

Living alone can mean quiet days, skipped meals, and fewer reasons to get out of the chair.

Our Approach: Meals are shared at one table, neighbors are a few steps away, and there is company and conversation throughout the day.

Concerns About Institutional Care

A large building with long hallways rarely feels like anywhere someone would choose to live.

Our Approach: Casita is a real house on a real street — small, familiar, and quiet enough that everyone here knows your loved one by name.

You don’t have to wait for another emergency to begin exploring a safer option.

Nurse-Led Care

Experienced, Nurse-Led Care With Personal Owner Involvement

Casita Senior Living is a locally owned residential assisted living community led by Monica Lovato, Registered Nurse, entrepreneur, and former two-time world boxing champion who has dedicated more than 25 years to healthcare. Born and raised in Northern New Mexico’s Española Valley, she began working in the medical field at age 19 at a dialysis clinic in Española and later became a nurse in her mother's memory.

Today, Monica owns and operates Casita Senior Living’s two residential assisted living homes, built from the ground up alongside her business partners, Vanessa and Kevin Caudill. Her philosophy is simple: care for every resident as you would want your own family to be cared for. Monica remains personally involved with her residents, families, and staff and holds her team to high standards of professionalism, compassion, dignity, and respect.

At Casita, residents aren't just people we care for; they become part of our family.

Common Questions

Answers for Families Beginning the Search

What is residential assisted living?

It is 24-hour personal care and supervision provided in a small private home rather than a large facility, so fewer people share the attention of the staff on duty.

How is a residential setting different from a larger facility?

There are no long corridors or shift-rotation strangers. Meals are shared at one table, routines stay familiar, and the people working here know each resident personally.

Is support available 24 hours a day?

Yes. Awake staff are on site day and night, with Registered Nurse oversight of each care plan.

How does the dementia-care assessment work?

We complete an individual assessment before move-in to decide whether the person's needs can be safely supported. What we can accommodate depends on staffing, licensing, the approved care plan, and current conditions.

Can residents receive hospice support?

Yes. We work alongside hospice providers when that is appropriate, and a resident does not need to be on hospice to live at Casita.

How do we schedule a tour?

Call us at (505) 525-2568 or send a message from the contact page, and we'll arrange a time to walk you through the home.
